Here's a bit more information on Jackie:
My first class: Cardio Thai Kickboxing
My first class was a Kickboxing/Muay Thai class. Nicholas Pepin is the instructor for this particular class. He began his martial arts journey at the age of 5, training in Tae Kwon Do and later in Kung fu. Interested in expanding his martial arts knowledge Nick began training in Thai boxing in 2005. In search of deeper understanding of this sport, he packed his bags and left for Thailand in 2007, where he studied, trained and competed professionally in Thai boxing. Nick's classes promise to make you sweat, make you laugh and make you fit.
Thai Boxing, Thailand's national sport, is quickly becoming one of Canada's fastest growing fitness crazes, and for obvious reasons; Thai boxing is a high energy and intense work out. Thai boxing teaches valuable self defence techniques and allows you to practice kicks, punches, knees and elbows on padded target mitts, achieving an awesome work out.
This class incorporates cardio warmups, partner drills (this is the fun part where you get to punch and kick the pads!), circuit training as well as stretching. By combining all these elements, you'll gain confidence and a great full body workout. Plus, the dynamic, non-repetitive routines will make you forget that you are 'exercising'.
The various drills will improve your strength, endurance and agility. Thai boxing conditioning is a wonderful addition to any work out routine and is ideal for those who want to take their fitness to the next level. Open to all ages and fitness levels.
Here are three reasons to try out Nick's class:
1. He adapts his teaching style to meet your needs/ability. The other client was clearly more advanced than I was. Sometimes we did the same thing and sometimes he would modify what I did so that I could practice the basic body mechanics behind the different striking techniques.
2. I really enjoyed the last clinching game we did. My partner and I practised clinching each other. Nick helped us out and it was lots of fun.
3. You'll learn new skills and improve your movement repertoire. You'll do all of that while having a great workout.
Thumbs up for Nick and I can't wait to try one of Jackie's kettlebell class in the upcoming weeks.
